LITTLE ROCK, AR - A federal judge denied a motion Monday filed by the Pulaski County Special School District to be declared partially unitary in a long running federal desegregation case.

denied the motion without prejudice as "premature".
PCSSD, Little Rock & North Little Rock schools are part of a federal desegregation lawsuit that started in 1982.
All three districts receive approximately $70 million annually in state funding to comply with a federal desegregation settlement order in the case.
Governor Mike Beebe has pointed to ending desegregation payments as an avenue to lower the sales tax on groceries for the upcoming legislative session beginning in January.
