MAUMELLE, AR - Police have apprehended a teen who they say a teen escaped the Methodist Behavioral Hospital and later returned brandishing a handgun Tuesday morning.

According to a release, officials from the Maumelle Police Department received several calls from residents in the Rolling Oaks subdivision saying that they’d seen a subject matching the description of the teen, who was reported to have escaped from the Methodist Behavioral Hospital early Tuesday morning, only to return a few hours later with a gun before disappearing again.

Police searched the area and found the teen on Vantage Drive. The suspect was arrested after a brief foot chase and standoff, during which he reportedly held a gun to his own head several times, but did not harm himself.

The suspect is being held at the Maumelle Police headquarters, pending formal charges.

Dude; Wechsler's or Turman's classification; I'll go either one against you as far as IQ goes. Lord is always capitalized! I've seen his kind before in the news. He will end up in and out of the joint the rest of his life; or get life for murdering someone someday. Just sayin' he could have saved one or more people a lot of grief in the future had he pulled the trigger. Yes, it's you.

Yank I am not seeing that there education of yours in these comments. AWWW well maybe it's me. Maybe it's not education at all, maybe it has more to do with compassion, having a heart, basic common sense or lack there of. lord knows what else it would take to suggest that a 15 year old putting a gun to their head is natural and appropiate. Yank I hope you ain't off your meds again!

Butch is right. The old belt and circle routine is a lot better than putting them on drugs. Drugs that will lead them to ....?

Looks like I missed a good one. I've always said leave the parenting to the parent. Throw out DHS and bring back the good old fashion wood shed. I don't understand the dos and do not of a lot of things. What I can understand is when whipping done right was outlawed the thugs have grown in numbers and the crime rate has climbed through the roof. Look it up. There is nothing will get you hurt quicker than having to get in an area with a bunch of 12 to 15 year old punks. Some how we have lost the ability as a group to instill respect for others in our young. Bring back the belt leather and the running of the circle. Been there and done that.

Well, if he didn't like Methodist Behavioral, he's going to really hate youth lockup at Alexander.

itsjustme and Arkansasyank, completely aree with ya'll and glad that you see the point I was trying to make! and I forgot about the SS $$ that they get with having a kid on unnecessary prescription drugs, that's maddening! @tormntos, I never said anything about Methodist behavioral drugging their patients...I basically said that a big reason many kids are in there in the first place is b/c they've been drugged with ritlin (sp), anti-depressants etc since they could walk, when they get off the drugs they have behavior problems and drug addiction....It's b/c some (not all and I know some kids may really need the stuff) parents are too quick to want to turn to their family doctor or a worthless shrink when a child acts a little hyper or throws a temper, they think "oh well there must be something wrong with my kid, must be depressed or have ADD.." and there's very few doctors who would tell a parent that the kid just needs discipline and the parents need to be parents.they'd rather write them a script and set an appointment 3 months later to get the script refilled..it's job securiy..

That's the way I was raised also. And I haven't raped, robbed, or murdered anyone. And I wasn't a controlled zombie in the classroom either.

ArkansasYankee and wpsark have valid points. Their are parents that mooch the SS check that their "disabled" kids get. And it doesnt stop at the doctors and pharmaceutical companies getting paid. Schools are giving X amounts of money for having kids enrolled that are ADD, ADHD, etc. I know this for a fact, my sister works for a large school district and that is part of her job, cashing those checks. In a way, society is allowing the kids to become medicated zombies, but what needs to happen is going back to Mr. Hand metting Mr. Ass. You can not discipline your kids anymore without getting arrested. WHen my kids act up, and they do, they get a good ol' fashioned ass whipping. There is none of this "time out" crap at my house. For the most part, our kids listen to us and obey us, but they are kids and they do make mistakes. When they do, they are taught WHY they are in trouble and WHAT they did to get in trouble. If the situation warrants a spanking, they get one. Call me what you want, but thats the way that WE choose to raise our kids, the same way both of us were raised. Kids will be kids, but parents need to be parents also.
