LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Little Rock police say the city's recent string of bank robberies is solved. Detectives arrested Nickarlos Banks, 34, Friday morning at what police describe as a drug house in south Little Rock.

Moments before being sent to jail, police say Nickarlos Banks confessed to multiple bank and business robberies.

"He said he was sorry. He said he got on drugs and the drugs made him do these things," Lt. Terry Hastings says.

These things include a two-week run of holdups, starting with a KFC on 12th street, not long after his mom Jackie Turner says she saw him for the last time.

"He just got with the wrong crowd and got on drugs,” Turner says. “He's very sick."

Darin Young says he knows Banks, sees him catching Central Arkansas Transit buses downtown.

"He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would do the things that he's done," Young says. "Drugs are out here man, you know what I mean,” Young says. “And if your life revolves around that, there's no telling what you would do."

Police say Banks walked into the Centennial Bank in North Little Rock, Allied Bank at Kavanaugh and Cantrell last month and finally Delta Bank and Trust in Hillcrest on Thursday and robbed it at gun point.

"Mr. Banks was smoking crack this morning when the officers arrested him," Hastings says.

"I don't think he's a bad guy at all,” Young says. “All the things he's done, that's just part of his addiction."

That addiction could now lead him to prison.

Banks is being held in the Pulaski County jail with no bond. North Little Rock police say he is responsible for holding up a Centennial Bank branch on E. Broadway there too.

Mother of bank robbery suspect begs him to give up

A mother of a suspected bank robber sent him an impassioned plea during an interview Thursday to turn himself in.

Nickarlos Banks, 34, is wanted for multiple bank and convenience store robberies.

Little Rock police say that because Banks showed a weapon in his most recent bank robbery Thursday morning, he is even more dangerous and the crimes are escalating.

Detectives want to arrest him. His mother Jaclyn Turner wants him to give himself up.

"Your mama still loves you so please turn yourself in," Turner says. "Stop doing what you're doing and give yourself up. That's the best way to get you some help," she begs her son.

Police say surveillance pictures show him in a wig, holding up Delta Bank & Trust at 2924 Kavanaugh Thursday morning.

Little Rock Police Lieutenant Terry Hastings told FOX16 News that Banks is homeless and may have boarded at CATA bus after the robbery.

"He is strictly robbing these businesses and banks for the drugs. He's trying to get money to buy crack cocaine," Hastings says."

Detectives say Banks took off running west on Kavanaugh and into a neighborhood where he dropped $250 on the ground near Clarkson & H.

Carolyn Wallace lives nearby and was walking her dog "Rio" when she spotted the cash and called 311.

"First I saw one 50-dollar bill and then I kind of looked around and there were four others," she said.

Turner hopes police arrest her son or turns himself in before he kills somebody or gets himself killed.

"People still love you, your whole family does," Turner said through tears. "Don't make us suffer."

Banks is also wanted for robbing Allied Bank at 4900 Kavanaugh on October 27th.

Police say the pervasive motivation for the robberies is crack cocaine. The money taken from the banks just a means to an addictive and dangerous end.
