UPDATE: Suspect arrested in 2011 Batesville arson

BATESVILLE, AR – Police have arrested a man in connection to a fire that burned down three Batesville businesses in June of 2011and has been declared arson.

The Independence County Sheriff arrested Christopher Brashers for arson and set his bond at $150,000. The Batesville Daily Guard reports that Brashers was the owner of Pioneer Pizza, one of three businesses to burn down in the fire.

The fire on Harrison Street was first reported by passing motorist the night of June 20th, 2011. Pioneer Pizza, along with Teed Family Dentistry and Hon’s Sav-On-Drugs were total losses, with damage reported at more than $1 million.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.

Sounds like the business wasn't making money and the owner turned to a little insurance fraud to bail him out of his bad decisions.
