UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Little Rock shooting

Officials from the Little Rock Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection to a Monday night shooting.

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Officials from the Little Rock Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection to a Monday night shooting.

Police say Roderick Williams was taken into custody on a misdemeanor traffic warrant on March 27. According to reports, Williams was involved in a shooting that took place around 9:40 pm in the parking lot of Discount Tobacco, located at 5400 West 51st street, on March 26.

When police arrived, they found the victim, later identified as 32-year-old Jessie Beasley, suffering from several small caliber gunshot wounds. Beasely told police that the suspect, identified as Roderick Williams, shot him and fled the scene in a white SUV with an Arkansas license plate number 565 RLP.

Beasely was taken to UAMS where his condition is unknown.

Williams was charged with first degree battery and possession of a firearm. The investigation is ongoing.
