It's been a long year for an ailing Joe Lee Richards, Sr."I have vowed to stay alive long enough to see my son buried proper with a headstone. We're going to do that," he said.
Authorities found Richards along with another unidentified body buried in the backyard of Marissa Wright's Traskwood home yesterday morning. Wright was Richards' girlfriend.
"One minute they were together, one minute they weren't. One minute they were getting married, one minute they weren't so there had to have been something going on," said Richards' older brother, Mike.
"I always knew she had done it. The only thing I didn't know was why and where the body was," said Joe Lee.
Wright now faces capital murder charges. Investigators say the only connection between Richards murder and the unidentified body is the yard where they were found.
"They were both found in the backyard of this residence but they weren't together," said Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington.
It's taken multiple law enforcement agencies to get this far in the year-long investigation.
"This is the first time that we've had something this unique or of this magnitude. It's really, really different," said Sheriff Pennington.
"If they stay together the criminals better watch out because them boys are tough. They will find you," said Joe Lee.
He ends a long day with a little closure, surrounded by his family, with one empty seat on the porch.
Saline County investigators say they hope they will be able to track the other victim's family down Thursday night and expect to release the man's name by Friday morning.
