CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says no fracking fluid has been found in domestic water wells in the Fayetteville Shale area of Van Buren County.

The fluid is a byproduct of hydraulic fracturing — or fracking. It's a process of injecting fluid into the ground to break apart the shale in order to extract natural gas.

U.S.G.S. assistant director Jaysson Funkhouser told the Log Cabin Democrat that about 70 wells were tested. Funkhouser said testing of wells in Faulkner County will start later this month.

The U.S.G.S. says some of the water samples were also tested for methane gas and none was found.

Frack fluid is used to push sand and open the cracks in shale beds, then the fluid is pumped out leaving the sand to hold open the cracks making gas easier to pump out. Before you start blaming othersfor problems do your home work.

Now that this issue is done. They will start claiming the drills knocked the blackbirds out of the sky, or the fracking caused the drum to die off...... Way to get the truth USGS!

When I lived in Ohio, they fracked wells all around me. Never had a problem. It brings in the jobs and the land owner gets paid. It is time for Arkansas to stop looking for everything bad, and move ahead

Well now for all you liberals that still try and kill jobs in Arkansas, what will you try next to stop jobs coming to Arkansas? This proves what I said from the start.....quit shooting your selves in the foot and lets go to work.
