TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service has posted closure proposal notices at three southwest Arkansas post offices a few days after finishing meetings to seek public input.

The Texarkana Gazette reports the notices have been posted at the Saratoga, Ogden and Ozan post offices.

Ogden Mayor Sandra Furlow says she believes the Postal Service plans to close the post office in her town because the agency is considering doing the same with 26 other post offices in Arkansas.

Leisa Tolliver-Gay, a customer relations coordinator for the Postal Service in Little Rock, says the three post offices will remain open for at least 150 days after the posting of the notices, while the agency completes its review process.

Tolliver-Gay says the posting of the notices doesn't mean those post offices will definitely close.
