Two sides to every story right? What say PACT/PASS? Why not a public review of the budget...both sides having input and proposals? Come to think of it, in what public forum do folks get to as Dr. Guess and Dr. Kimbrell, since he is the School Board? I ask...never hear anything back. Protector 20, what are you basing your so called 4 million in the hole comment on? Doesn't really matter what the label on the side of the school bus says...PCSSD or Jacksonville...schools will not improve until more money is spent in the at school level. I have read many of the Department of Education audit reports of PCSSD schools that are still in academic distress. Not once did I see any mention that the "Union" is the problem. There was however quite a bit that mentioned what the administrators weren't doing! Year after year. The union is teachers and support staff that are in the schools everyday. Administrators have wasted millions trying to bust the unions. Why spend it in the Courtroom instead of the Classroom? Ask Dr. Guess that question! Hombre has an excellent point...why are administrators being paid for 244 days when schools are open many less. There are some administrators that need to work year round...but all of them. What are Principals doing that couldn't be done in 2oo days?

based o the "nearly 80 teachers" more than needed and the ??? $32k for a starting teacher, that's at least $2.56 MILLION already. Good start.

Just let the contracts renew without changes. The district will end up $4 million in the hole and the state can finally dissolve this pitiful school district. Let Marty Nix explain THAT to her union buddies when they have to interview for their "old" jobs with a new district.

Dr Guess's salary and benefits alone would pay four or more seasoned teachers and possibly seven or more new teachers. Salaries Dr. Guess's = $215000+ benefits Principal = Avg $70,000 Administrator avg contracted workdays=244 new teacher hire= $32000, avg contracted workdays 192 (and they're the ones doing the work in the trenches)

I do believe someone should ask Dr Guess several questions. One, why does he keep insisting the May 1 date is critical for some reason. There is a Negotiated Agreement with in place through 2014(?) I believe. Second, how many millions of dollars has have PACT/PASS made in concessions beyond the 0 pay raise? Third, the District has said it will eliminate two spots at their level...two! Why are the the cuts done at the school level not the administrator level. Fourth, why has there not been any public meetings to allow PCSSD stakeholders to see and hear about the so called deficit budget from both sides? Just ask...

A gallon of gas cost a teacher the same as us!
