LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Razorback Coach Bobby Petrino reacts to the recent actions of an Arkansas player. Saturday, freshman Marquel Wade had to be escorted off the field. He was mad game officials threw him out of the game.

"That's the thing that I didn't like," said Petrino.

But the Razorback team is not the only school facing unsportsmanlike conduct problems. A recent Youtube video shows the UAPB team getting into a confrontation against Southern University. It resulted in suspensions for twenty-five Golden Lions.

Dr. Howard Turney is the director of the social work school at UALR. He says coaches must do a better job teaching kids how to be better players.

"High schools and colleges have several coaches and I think it is up to them to provide leadership and direction that promotes good sportsmanship," said Turney.

Last week, a fight involving the Monticello and Hamburg Junior High Schools also broke after its game. District leaders are now reviewing the video to determine disciplinary action.

Bad hit...bottom line. He was right to be ejected. Its obvious he intended to hit the returner with or without the ball with an illegal hit. I do understand that illegal hits happen...anyone who has ever played the game will understand when i say it is literally a split second decision in all aspects of the game. The ejection is another story. It had to be done. The celebration and reaction after the fact was out of line. The young man was not representing the NCAA, the university or athletes anywhere in a good manor. A little humility would have gone a long way in this situation. Agree or disagree, he turned himself into an example, it had to happen somewhere, sometime. As a referee i would not hve let him stay on the field either.

Fardy- Have you ever played a down of football in your life other than two hand touch?

kdye you shouldn't be so confident to draw conclusions on a person based upon a comment on these boards.....I did not question his Obligation to tackle the receiver or carrier of the football, Instead I brought to light the fact that this action was spearing. 20 years ago, dirty football might have been accepted, now with stronger, faster, and better equipped players, that type of football is no longer acceptable and should not be tolerated. I think that his 1 game suspension should stand as proof others feel the same. I hope he learns from this and comes back stronger and more aware for the remainder of the season.

Fardy, it is obvious you have never played football. Everyones "intent" should be to hit the person with the ball. high him squar in the chest. when learning how to tackle, back in the day, you were told you put your head in their chest and wrap them up. guzzler, this goes back to what I was saying earlier. how many times has Wilson gotten hit in the back or in the chest and the defensive player celebrated but never got called for it. Many times. he got ejected because every vandy fan and a lot of other fans were saying eject him. do you know who he was talking smack to? from the looks of things the Vandy players were talking a lot of smack too. if the smack talk was the reason for the ejection then it should be that way for both sides. thank you and have a great day.

"After further review", BRITE is 100% correct- it was the excessive celebration and smack talk post violation that got him ejected. And, I must admit, it did have a bit of thugsta tone to it.

I can understand that Football is a physical game, players are pushed to their limits to produce a victory, thus increasing the Universities earning potential. I do not agree that "He was running fast and could not see what exactly was happening" Watching the play over and over again and you see Wade tuck his head and spear the receiver. Of course he could not see, it wasn't necessary for him. He was fully committed to the act and his intent IS clearly visible in EVERY angle. Too much emotion and not enough maturity.

To me it looked like he thought the receiver caught the ball and that's why he celebrated the hit. These players are running fast and can't always see exactly what's happening on the field. He shouldn't have been ejected from the game. It's a football game, put on your big boy britches, bad hits occur. Wooo Pig Soooieee

Seriously? come on, you guys are just too funny. You are making a big deal out of nothing. the kid owned up to his mistake and apologized. Now that is not enough? If he didn't apologize then you would really talk bad about him. his dance was no different than a LB or DE knocking the mess out of Wilson. If they are going to punish him then they need to punish every player that crushes the OB and then pounds his chest or throws his hands up in the air. It is football, it is fast paced so things will happen.

I watched the game, I found the hit to be excessive and Wade should have been removed from the game. But what I find truly sad is BRITE you speak of setting an example and wanting respect but you attempt to hide ignorant comments like ass while boldly saying racial staments. You believe you should be respected at least Petrino stands up for his boys and does not put them down when they mess up.

I guess the good old days of GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP are out the door, basically. That used to be more important than winning. Standards have sunk to new lows in so many other areas, I guess it isn't a surprise. It would not be politically correct to expect certain behavior of anyone anymore. He will probably sue Patrino for discrimination or violating his freedom of speech.
