With students like this one, can you blame the Lady for wanting to be armed, even at school?

Everyone keeps saying that this person is a very good teacher. I just don't buy the excuse that she forgot the gun was in her purse! Who forgets they have a gun in a NO WEAPON ZONE AND A SCHOOL ZONE. If she is that careless with it maybe she should not be carrying it. I have no sympahty for the teacher or the student. We always preach "kids need to be responsible for there action." We as a society need to start practicing what we preach. The teacher should be fired, and receive prison time. The fact that she has committed a crime should not be clouded by the fact that she is a good teacher and very nice. The prisons are full of good teachers and nice people, and there is room for this teacher and the student.

Let's not forget...this situation has affected both parties. They have families who will be affected by this. Please stop being so judgmental and if you don't the whole situation or what happen, keep quiet and stop showing so much ignorance. I also know Mrs. Paul and she is a very caring and GREAT teacher who made a mistake and I am sure this whole ordeal is just devastating to her. All 4 four of my children and my future daughter-n-law graduated from Jacksonville and doing great in life. I lived in Jacksonville for years until my children graduated and I moved back to Little Rock and not because it was a bad place to live but it was closer to my job and church. It's how you raise and set statndards with your children from birth. I was active in my children activities which consist of football and basketball, but more so their education as a whole. I made a point then and I still make a point how education were/is not a option an dI instill this in my grandchildren. Please don't be so negative about the schools in Jacksonville. Every school has their share of problems. It may not be in the extinct of this situation and sometimes we hear about it and sometime we don't. Please just pray for this situation (I know everyone do not have a relationship with God) and that's your choice. If you don't just try and stay positive instead of negative. I will continue to pray for them both. Be Blessed!

The student had intent to commit a crime, she did not. It was certainly wrong and boneheaded not to check her purse. But a fine and suspension of her concealed carry license is in order, not jail time. The student, on the other hand, throw the book at him.

If I was a teacher at Jacksonville or any other PCSSD school, I'd carry a gun too. These punk ass kids carry them and I'd want to be prepared. Jacksonville is a turd of a town and will never change. The current administration is wasting money trying to clean it up.

BOTH WRONG. If she felt that endangered she should atleast be responsible enough NOT to take the gun into a classroom. Could have turned out to be a much more serious situation. I thought schools were gun-free zones.

Everyone should carry a gun that is over the age of 21 and has a clean criminal record. That would stop the majority of crime. No one worries about getting shot when doing something bad any more. Think about it would you rob a bank of mug someone if you thought you would be shot. How many women would be rapped if they were all packing a pistol. Makes me sad to see so many weak people depending on the police for protection. I would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6. I hope they let her off scott free and beat that kid like a slave. No racism intended.

To all of you who do not know this teacher ,,go to hell. She mad a mistake. She is a most respected teacher who cares about her students and is a fine educator, I've known her for over 19 yrs at both the Jr, high and senior high levels,,I also know her husband. They are both fine people. The student is a thief and went into her purse to STEAL something. He needs his ass wipped like a yard dog. And the real problem are the parents who do not teach their children right from wrong. The other problem is the lack of God in their lives. Do not judge her, for you all are guilty of the problems in our schools. I say again, go to hell ,all ye who do not know, for you are the problem!

Mrs. Paul is a very good teacher and would never hurt a fly! It's an honest mistake and "he who is without sin shall cast the first stone" but since i doubt that applies to anyone of yall, you have no right judge. She will learn her lesson and recieve the necessary punishment for her oversight but I do not think she should lose her carreer she has worked so hard for! As for the student, well that just gives you a glimpse of the bad a** children that go there (with the exception of a few). If he was willing to steal it he was willing to use it!
