Update: Little Rock Man Arrested in Shoe Store Robbery Attempt, Beating of Employee

Update (June 25):
LITTLE ROCK, AR - A local man has been arrested for a May robbery and beating at a shoe store on the city's west side.

Mario D. Johnson, 21, was picked up by police yesterday. He's being held on $25,000 bond.

Johnson is charged with aggravated robbery and battery, both felonies, in a May 18 incident at the Shoe Carnival store on Chenal Parkway.

Police say in that incident an employee was beaten but managed to hold on to the store's deposit bag. When others tried to help her, the suspect was reported to have lifted his shirt to show he had a gun.

According to Johnson's arrest affidavit, he admitted to the robbery and beating but denied having a gun.

No money was taken in the incident.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Workers at the Shoe Carnival, at 12801 Chenal Parkway, were getting ready to open this morning when a 6'0" tall, medium built man with tattoos walked into the store and robbed them.

Little Rock Police tell FOX 16 News the robber left the store in a black 4-door Buick LeSabre heading north on Bowman Road. The car had Arkansas tags 547 SEC, which police say belong to a Ford Explorer. The LeSabre also had a temporary tire on the right rear.
