Update: Man Killed in Garland Co. Officer Shooting Identified

Deputies say Chris Sample, 39, was shot after deputies answered a call about a possible domestic disturbance.
GARLAND COUNTY, AR - The Garland County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) has released the name of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting on Saturday night.

The GCSO says Chris Sample, 39, was shot after deputies answered a call about a possible domestic disturbance.

According to information released today, the call came in about 9:49 p.m., and not 10:49 as originally reported.

The GCSO says a next door neighbor reported hearing yelling and glass breaking at 165 Stanage Terrace (the residence of the suspect, Chris Sample, 39, and his girlfriend, Terri Williamson).

Deputies say one of the neighbors went to check and see if everyone was okay. When he knocked on the door, Sample reportedly came to the door holding a long gun with his finger on the trigger. When asked if everything was okay, Sample said "yes."

As deputies headed to the scene, backup assistance was requested from the Arkansas State Police.

Deputy Josh Cannon is on paid administrative leave, which is standard policy of the Garland County Sheriff's Office on all officer involved shootings.

The GCSO says this is a joint investigation between the Arkansas State Police and the Garland County Sheriff's Office.
