Update: Police say two people shot at Park Plaza Mall

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Little Rock Police now say two men were shot in an officer involved shooting at the Park Plaza Mall.

The shooting happened just after 2:30pm on December 27.

According to the police report, two mall security officers met a mother and a daughter in the parking lot.  The mother said three men tried to get her daughter into their car.  The security guards called on Christopher Johannes, a Little Rock police officer who was off duty at the time.  The report further indicates when the driver of the car saw Officer Johannes, he jumped back in the car and began backing up towards security officers and other customers.  Officer Johannes fired shots at the passengers. 

The driver, 29-year-old Joseph Williams, was shot at least once in the upper torso. Police say that he is still in the hospital. The front seat passenger, 20-year-old Keithen Pettus, was shot once in the face. Pettus was apprehended on Piece Street, across from the mall on University, after he fled from the scene. Pettus was treated and released from the hospital. Johnnie Campbell was the passenger behind the driver. He was not hurt in the shooting.

The report details police found a white powder substance and a large amount of cash on Williams. 

The investigation is ongoing. Police say they have not filed any charges at this time.
