Update: Little Rock Police identified the suspect shot and killed by the officer as 19-year-old Charles Edward Murray, Jr.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Little Rock Police shut down this Capitol View neighborhood to collect evidence after a shooting involving one of its own. Sgt. Cassandra Davis tells FOX16 the homeowner at 204 Thyer street called them after getting word of a burglary. Police arrived and saw a man running from the home.

"The young man did display a weapon,” Sgt. Cassandra Davis with the Little Rock Police Department said. “We are investigating to see if that man did fire a round. We do know that our officer did fire one round, striking that young man."

That suspected burglar died at the hospital. The officer only suffered cuts.

Backup officers went to the house to check on things and found two men-one inside the house and one outside. Both men had with gunshot wounds. The man found outside went to the hospital, while the man found inside died in the home.

"it was just kind of like repetitive, little bursts, 2 or 3 at a time," witness Chris Fuller said.

Chris Fuller says the shots caught them by surprise. They stayed still in their house until they heard police and saw crime scene tape, an indication they could go outside.

"It's kind of crazy. I'm not gonna lie, especially around here. This is a nice neighborhood and all that," Fuller said.

wpsark; well said. EducatedOwl; it appears amberjacks posting has been removed, so I've no idea what you are writing about. And if you are so educated, why would you use the term POS? And if you were a Christian, you most certainly would not have wished amberjack was in the house when shots were fired. colda and freemyhistory; sorry for your loss; but I can't believe he was a "good kid". Good kids don't go around shooting people. I know when his funeral happens, the preacher is going to say how he is in Heaven now. Wouldn't bet on it; and I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when he stands before his Maker to be Judged. After all, he killed someone, then died himself; so I'd say his chances are not good for getting in the Pearly Gates.

@EducatedOwl, I'm curious to know what type of job you wouldn't consider a "service" job...Pretty much any type of job you hold is because someone needs that service..

amberjack, the victim that died in the house was by no means a ghetto thug only the POS that broke into the home. And as far as your comment on the Osama self entitlement plan, it simply shows your lack of intelligence and education. Based on your ignorant comment, I can rightfully assume that you are uneducated and simply hold a service job. Keep focus on the story presented. Too bad you weren't in that house when shots were fired.

Now if he shot at an officer he got what was coming to him.....but Amberjack how come you don't call the white folks ghetto when they are on here for rape, kidnapping, and murder? I guess those must be some of your family members or you jusy ignore that part of the news when it's a white gangster thug.

Sgt. Cassaanraaa! You always set off the City by saying "Shot that young man who later died", also "investigating to see if that young man fired at one of our Officers while showing a gun". Hope you can put on a uniform and get out of your shopping costume, at least while on TV.

Nice work officer! Too bad that the police moto "To Serve and Protect" usually means after the fact but at least this time the scum didn't get away and isn't going to sit in the pokey sucking tax dollars from hardworking tax payers.
