LITTLE ROCK, AR – Veterans Day is this Friday. There are several celebrations in central Arkansas you can attend to mark the anniversary of the armistice of WWI and celebrate the men and women who served in our armed forces.

State Capitol

The Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs will present a Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m. in the State Capitol rotunda. Governor Mike Beebe will give the keynote address at the annual ceremony.


Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Museum of Military History along with 103.7 The Buzz invites the public to honor the men and women of our armed services on Friday, November 11th at the Jacksonville Museum. The day will start bright and early at 6:00am with the crew from The Buzz broadcasting live from the museum to raise money for the Arkansas Fallen Heroes Memorial. The memorial is now on display at the museum thru Sunday November 13th. The museum will be open all day at no charge, there will live patriotic music, registration for a museum memorial brick and free flags provided by The Buzz and Arkansas Flag and Banner. At 10:50am the public is invited to join us for a Veterans Day Ceremony on the north lawn with a reception immediately afterwards hosted by the Major Jacob Gray Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.


UALR

An honor guard will raise the stars and stripes at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, honoring all who serve and have served in the U.S. military on this Veterans Day.

The annual ceremony will be held at the UALR flag pole just outside the Facilities Management Building. A reception will follow in room 113 in the Administration South Building.


UCA

The University of Central Arkansas and the City of Conway will host the annual Veterans Day Celebration Nov. 11 at the practice field next to Estes Stadium on the UCA campus.

A special ceremony honoring veterans will be held at 11 a.m. More than 100 balloons will be released in honor of each Arkansan killed in service since Sept. 11, 2001. Guest speakers for this year's ceremony include representative from the UCA faculty and student body who have served in the military.


North Little Rock

The William F. Laman Public Library System announces the North Little Rock Veterans Memorial Ceremony to be held on Veterans Day, November 11, at 1 p.m.

The ceremony will be held in the plaza of the Laman Library main branch at 2801 Orange St. in North Little Rock.

In addition to Mr. Hamilton, keynote speakers will be Mayor Patrick Henry Hays, other city officials, and military personnel.


Veteran Hall of Fame

The first class of Inductees into the Arkansas Military Veterans Hall of Fame United States. Senator John Boozman will present Medallions to Fifteen Arkansans selected by an Independent Veterans board oversighted by the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs. Lt. Governor Darr, Major General Bill Wofford of the Arkansas National Guard, State Legislators, and a host of other military and civilian dignitaries will be in attendance including Mrs. Nick Bacon whose late husband was the last Arkansan to win the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1968.

Nov 11th, 6:00-8:30pm at the Agora Conference Center, 705 E. Siebenmorgan Rd in Conway.


Clinton Center

On Nov 12th, admission into the Library is free.
