PINE BLUFF, AR -- Jessie Johnson thought he wouldn't live to see this day.
"I have three broken bones in my face. My eyesight, I can barely see. They messed up my eardrum and stuff," Jessie Johnson said.
He said Glenn Morgan and Joseph Christie jumped him at his apartment two weeks ago. Johnson said Morgan, his landlord, asked him what happened to the aluminum cans. Johnson told him he didn't know. Then, the men stormed in and began their attack -- with the bat and their feet.
"They jumped me. They beat me unconsciously and left me for dead. I felt like somebody was just taking my life away from me. It's painful every day," Johnson said.
Johnson regained consciousness and went next door for help, but Morgan took him to the hospital.
"I was just trying to get help. I didn't know what was going on. It happened so fast. I'm losing blood; I'm not thinking. I needed treatment," Johnson said.
Even though police have arrested the men Johnson say are responsible, he still doesn't feel safe at Studio One Apartments. He said someone threw a rock through his window as he slept.
The complex is in its second week under new management. The new manager said she came in to bring the complex back up to standard.
"Our motto is good folks welcomed and we want to stick with that," Nichelle White said.
But Johnson said it's not a good place for him. He's looking for another place to regroup and rehab.
"I don't hate them but I despise what they did. I hope they get justice," Johnson said.
