Walgreen's pharmacies computers crashed at stores all across the country Tuesday morning.
Some customers couldn't use credit cards while others had trouble filling prescriptions. Some stores could not process insurance payments for several hours.
Ron Steele says the computer crash was quite an inconvenience for him. "It was frustrating. A lot of other customers also came in frustrated when they found out they had to pay with cash. A lot of people only carry credit or debit cards."
Walgreen's says not all stores got hit by the glitch. Of those that did experience issues, some stores were only impacted for a few hours. Walgreen's says some registers at particular stores worked while other registers were not responding at all.
Some customers shopping later in the day Tuesday say the system seemed to be back up and running. Gregory Treadway didn't experience any issues. "Everything was great, the people were wonderful, and I had no problems at all."
Tom Lieblong also didn't experience any problems. Stacy Robinson says her shopping experience was quick and easy. "A gallon of milk was all I needed. I ran in, got it, and ran out."
Walgreen's pharmacies are working through the computer issues and corporate does not expect customers will have any future problems.
No word on exactly how many stores are impacted by the computer glitches or when those impacted stores will all be back up and running.
Once the system is operational again, Walgreen's will process prescription payment information and adjust any difference in payment for customers.
