LITTLE ROCK, AR – Five people are dead as a result of four separate crashes this weekend.
In Faulkner County, Arkansas State police say one person died and another was injured in a fiery crash on Interstate 40 near the 139 mile marker, early Saturday morning.
The victim is identified as 30 year old Jason Cole of Pine Bluff. Investigators say just after 4:30 Saturday morning, the eastbound Oldsmobile Alero Cole was driving crossed the median and slammed head-on into a westbound Dodge Caravan. According to State Police reports both vehicles erupted in flames when they collided.
The driver of the westbound Dodge, 26 year old Sandi Weinert of Austin, Texas, was taken to a Little Rock hospital for treatment.
In Lonoke County, an accident just before 12:30p Saturday, on Interstate 40 near the 167 milemarker, claimed the life of 50 year old Dorothy Garley of Bethany, Oklahoma. She was pronounced dead at the scene after her eastbound Chevy Malibu went into the median and struck some trees.
Arkansas State Police report two people died in an accident just south of Swifton in Jackson County. The crash happened just after noon Saturday on Highway 67. The victims are identified as 66 year old Donna Moore and 70 year old Jerry Moore, both of Black Rock, Arkansas. Two other people were also injured when the Ford Expedition they were all in, left the road, flipped and rolled.
Just before 10:30pm Saturday night, in Bradley County, 43 year old Michael Williams of Warren died in a one vehicle crash. State police report Williams was westbound on Bradley County Road 34 when his pick-up left the road and struck some trees.
