White County man shot in back of head

WHITE COUNTY, AR – Deputies from the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a man who was shot in the back of his head Thursday.

According to reports, police were called to the White County Medical Center in response to a man with gunshot wound to the back of his head on April 12. The victim, 29-year-old Coty R. Cook told deputies that he was involved in an altercation with a man outside of Searcy. After Cook began to drive away, the suspect fired at the vehicle, hitting Cook in the back of the head.

Police say Cook was transported to the White County Medical Center and later to UAMS. He is expected to be released Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
