Woman assumes command of Arkansas American Legion

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Arkansas American Legion has a female commander for only the second time in its history. The new commander was elected and installed Sunday morning in North Little Rock.

Mary Erdman of Hot Springs Village accepted the post after her election, from outgoing Commander Glen Minor. Erdman was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United State Army reserve from 1986 to 2003, serving in Panama, Germany and under hostile fire in El Salvador.

Erdman is elected to serve as the Arkansas Commander for the 2012-2013 term.
