FAULKNER COUNTY, AR – A woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after a nurse practitioner raised concern over the weight of a five-month-old baby.
According to Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland, 20-year-old Serina Marie Brock was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor on October 23, following an investigation by the Department of Human Services.

Faulkner County Deputies responded to Central Arkansas Pediatrics last week after a Nurse Practitioner raised concern about the weight of a five-month-old baby, who appeared to be well under the normal weight for his age.

Deputies say the Nurse Practitioner told them she’d advised Brock a number of times to bring the baby to the clinic for follow up appointments, but that Brock never did.

When the child’s grandmother brought him in for a check up, he was only 10 pounds – when at his age he should be almost 16 pounds.

Marie is set to appear in Faulkner County District Court for her arraignment on November 15.

The investigation is ongoing.

Before you defend this mother, you might want to read the article at other websites (such as TheCabin.net). The mother refused to bring the baby back to the doctor's office and then refused to answer any calls from the doctor's office. It was not until the doctor's office called DHS that anything was done. Baby is lucky to be alive, as are the two older children.

This baby is so very lucky DHS investigated and pressed charges against the Mother.WHY can't my grand daughters get the SAME respect from DHS. They are BOTH in a Abusive situation at their Grandpa's home, by BOTH the Grandpa & the Dad.The 12 year old just recently tried to kill herself because of punishment doled out by the Dad.(An overdose of Tylenol, which had she NOT gone to the ER, she would have died)He grounded her from her MOM,again. He wasn't even going to take her to the hospital.BUT the N. Little Rock Police told him to take her and they followed him there to make sure she went.YET DHS has done nothing to get her out of this situation. He's put her(12 yr old)in choke holds numerous times. The 7 yr old, stopped breathing twice while at the DR's office while he was getting her checked out for a serious cough that she had for over 3 weeks...My daughter had told him, numerous times prior, he needed to take her to the DR.They (DR's office)called an ambulance for her to be taken to Childrens Hospital in Little Rock. But, yet again, The Dad took her to the hospital himself...What if she had died en-route?? She was in the hospital for 10 days in ICU, on triple oxygen...Yet, DHS has done nothing again. This same young girl(7 yr old)had sores on her head and body.My daughter told him, he needed to take her to the DR for the sores she had oozing on her head and body.Yet again, He did nothing. He thought her head was dirty from not having a bath in a few days.I took her to the ER when she was staying with me.She had a staph infection.I'm her maternal Grandma. My daughter has 21 reports with DHS against the Dad and Grandpa. His Mom has been lying to protect the Dad and Grandpa. The Paternal Grandma died last year.So she isn't there to protect them any more. What is it going to take, to get these kids OUT of this home And for DHS to do their freaking job?? The police have been called Numerous times!! Yet, the girls are still there in the abuse. DHS, PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!

You need to know more here to condemn this mother. Maybe she doesn't know what she should be doing....BUT THE GRANDMOTHER CERTAINLY SHOULD. iF THEY DIDN'T FEEL LIKE THEY COULD LEAVE THE CHILD WITH THE GRANDMOTHER...OR IF SHE COULDN'T TAKE THE CHILD, I DON'T KNOW. Just have to have more information.

While people who intentionally or willingly bring harm to a child deserve maximum punishment by law, it is important to separate those from people who don't have ANY (and I mean, ANY) skills whatsoever. So she told the parent to bring the child back. And from what I understand, that is what has happened? If there is no intention to hurt a child, we need to provide counseling and parenting classes. I guarantee you that every parent who goes to that clinic will think twice. Let's put child abusers in jail but let's also use good judgement about calling DHS. What do you think will happen to that child now? FOSTER CARE. Yeah, that's a wonderful solution.
