LITTLE ROCK, AR – The daughter of a woman injured in the Plaza Towers fire said her mother died in the hospital shortly after 4pm on Wednesday.

Vertis Brown, 72, lived on the first floor of the apartment high-rise and was home when the fire broke out. She was taken to the hospital where she was unresponsive and placed on a ventilator to stay alive. The ventilator was removed Wednesday afternoon.

"I understand that they've got an investigation so they say but we're three days later and about to pull the plug on my Mama," said Brown's daughter, Jan Lowe, before going to the hospital to say goodbye to her mother. "We should have some answers by now."

The Little Rock Fire Department says the investigation into the fire has been completed and the report will be released Thursday.
