NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – Officials from the North Little Rock Fire Department say a woman walked in to the station Friday morning to report that her house was on fire.

According to reports, the woman’s house, located at 304 West 8th street, was two blocks down from the station. The woman living there had her phone in her hand but ran to the main fire station to report the fire.

The fire was extinguished within minutes.

Officials say everyone escaped from the house unharmed. Firefighters say a burning cigarette was found in a back bedroom but the official cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

I have called the fire department AND the police department via 911 in the past, and it probably was ALOT faster for her to walk the 2 blocks (which isn't very far people)!! I called for an ambulance for my seizing child once, and the hub for our local ambulance service was within sight of my front porch and it took them 15 minutes from the time the call was placed until I saw them leave the hub!!

OR maybe she just figured it would be quicker than calling 911. We never know what we would do in an emergency until it happens. Don't be so quick to judge.
