LITTLE ROCK, AR – One person is dead and three other hospitalized, including a 4-year-old, after a car crossed into oncoming traffic on Cantrell.

Police were originally responding to a reckless driver in a black car heading westbound on Cantrell. Officers found a multi-car crash on the 19000 block of Cantrell that included the suspect vehicle.

Police say preliminary evidence suggests that a black Chrysler 300 with Nevada plates was headed westbound on Cantrell. The Chrysler crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a gold Buick driving eastbound. The Buick spun and hit GM Sierra, also headed eastbound. A silver Honda, traveling westbound, then hit the Buick and flipped.

According to reports, the driver of the Chrysler, Demetrius Brown of Lake Charles, LA, appeared to be unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech on the scene. Police found a 9mm beretta on Brown as he was being taken into custody, and he was charged with carrying a weapon and was transported to the Pulaski County Jail.

Police say the driver of the Honda, Maria Rosario of Adona, died in the crash, while the passenger, Cindy Romero, was taken to the hospital, where she is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Buick, Charles Crockett of Little Rock, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries, and his passenger, 4-year-old Ryleigh Crockett taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Sierra, Agustus Shuster of Sherwood, told police he was driving east in the inside lane on Cantrell, when he saw the accident and was struck by Crockett’s Buick.

The investigation is ongoing.

he was arrested for the gun, im sure they are sorting out all the charges. he has to be charged with the death of the woman. they may be trying to see if any more deaths are going to come from this he will probably get charged with a book of felonies. he should at least.

Even if the driver had been arrested, the charges would have been something like negligent homicide, given 4 years, released within the first year and then they get their freedom back. In the meantime, a family will mourn the loss of their loved one, bear the pain and expense of a funeral, have to live with it the rest of their lives, recall the event each year to the date, etc. So, is there any justice within our current system? Hell no. Think of these things during this election year.

Maybe, I'm just not getting it. This driver was reported to be driving arracticly on the street, the police go to investigate and come upon a muli-car accident in which the original black 300 caused with death and injury and he was not arrested. Did I just miss something here. Why was he not arrested?

Police were already responding to a reckless driver....and that person started this chain reaction accident...and you did NOT arrest him? Better be happy that it wasn't myself or my family involved because I would've killed the SOB right then and there!!!!!!!!

Not under arrest? Of course not. In Arkansas, we don't have the intestinal fortitude to prosecute people who kill others with their cars, drunk or not. The few that do find themselves in court receive sentences that amount to nothing more than a slap in the face to the victims and their families.

FIRST AND FOREMOST I WANT TO SEND MY PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS OUT TO THE VICTIMS OF THIS HORRIFIC ACCIDENT! AND NOW I AM SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE YOUNG AND NOT SO YOUNG DRIVING AROUND LITTLE ROCK AND THE REST OF THE WORLD FAST AS IF YOU ARE IN THAT MUCH OF A RUSH TO GET WHERE YOUR TRYING TO GO ONLY TO KILL SOMEONE IN THE PROCESS. SLOW DOWN AND SEE THE BEAUTY NATURE HAS TO OFFER YOU AND NOT SPEED THROUGH LIFE. LIFE IS PRECIOUS AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.WHATEVER THE CASE MAY BE IF IT TAKES YOU TO SPPED AND THREATEN AN INNOCENT LIFE THEN IT IS REALLY NOT WORTH THE EFFORT TO PURSUE IT. SLOW DOWN AND LIVE
