SEARCY, Ark. (AP) — The Yarnell's Ice Cream Inc. plant in Searcy is to go on the auction block this week.

The only remaining Arkansas-based ice cream maker abruptly closed in June and later declared bankruptcy. Wednesday's auction of equipment and real estate is being held to raise money owed to 240 creditors.

About 200 people lost their jobs when Yarnell's shuttered.

The Daily Citizen reports the city of Searcy holds the title to some of the company's property. City officials say they hope the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration will buy those holdings. If a buyer emerges, the agency could sell the property to a business that could put the plant to use.
