Too Many Inmates Forces Another Closure of Pulaski County Jail
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Overcrowding is closing the Pulaski County Jail for the second time this year.
Pulaski County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden says the headcount was 1,281 this morning while the funded capacity is 1,210.
Lt. Minden says per Sheriff Doc Holladay, the Pulaski County Regional detention Facility (PCRDF) will close Tuesday at noon.
In late April, the PCRDF was closed when overcrowding became dangerous for the staff and inmates.
At that time, the PCRDF received some relief from the state but not enough to reopen until earlier this month.
