MORRILTON, AR - Members at Saint Paul A.M.E Church in Morrilton want to save their place of worship that once served as a place for freed slaves.

Even though the music still fills the sanctuary walls, the 138-year-old church struggles to stay open.

Members want to preserve the structure to tell future generations it was once a place for freed slaves in 1876.

But repairs are needed throughout the building, totaling $10,000.

To help with the repair efforts, money raised from The Tribute to Mom 5-K Run/Walk wil go towards the St. Paul A.M.E

Church Trustee Preservation effort and St. Paul A.M.E Church Building Fund.

The run will take place Saturday May 10 at 7 a.m. with the starting point at the Church on 309 North Division Street in Morrilton.

After the run rewards will be handed out and refreshments will be available.

Entry fees:

$15 in advance
$20 on race day

To sign up, you can look at the full entry form that includes more details on the race attached above.
