SEARCY, AR - Two Little Rock men are jailed on $50,000 bond each and police are looking for a third suspect after officers say the men tried to steal expensive equipment from a local business.
It happened early Friday morning around 1:45 at a construction company on Eastline Road.
Polcie say officers were told that the suspects were trying to take a backhoe by loading it on a trailer.
When officers arrived they saw a Chevy Blazer trying to turn around in the middle of the road.
Officers flipped on their blue lights and tried to stop the vehicle, which tried to get away but the driver jackknifed the vehicle, causing the Blazer to become disabled.
Police say three suspects then jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run away. Two of them were caught shortly after they ran into nearby woods.
The driver, identified as Dwight Taylor, 55, of Little Rock, was charged with Theft of Property and Fleeing, as well as various traffic violations.
The other suspect, identified as Sherrard Scales, 27, of Little Rock, was charged with Theft of Property.
Both men are being held at the White County Detention Center.
The backhoe and trailer (valued at about $44,500) were both returned to the owner. Searcy Police are still looking for the third suspect, described only as a black man.
