Two Pine Bluff Men Arrested in Auto Thefts from Benton Dealership

BENTON, AR - Two Pine Bluff men have been arrested in the investigation of auto thefts from a local dealership.

On Thursday, detectives with the Benton Police Department were notified about a group of suspects that were swapping keys to vehicles at Everett Motors Pre-Owned lot on Military Road. Police say this was being done under the pretenses of test driving them and it’s believed the method has been used on other occasions to steal vehicles.

Around 11:30 Thursday night, patrol officers spotted a vehicle reportedly stolen by the key swapping suspects, along with a vehicle used by them to drop off a suspect to steal the car from the dealership. Officers made a traffic stop on the transport vehicle and two men later identified as William Price, 26, and Courtney Lane, 25, were taken into custody without incident.

Officers tried to pull over the stolen vehicle but the third suspect refused to stop. The driver later bailed out of the vehicle and ran away in the area of The Greens at Hurricane Creek apartment complex in Bryant. Detectives are working to identify and find the third suspect.

Lane is charged with Theft of Property, Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime, and Driving on a Suspended License. Price is charged with Theft of Property and Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime.
Police say this is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
