Two Teens Charged in Burns Park Slide Fire

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Two teenagers have been arrested in the investigation of a fire that heavily damaged a Burns Park landmark.

Damage to the rocket slide located near the park's Fun Land has been estimated at $5,000 after the blaze early Saturday morning.

Police have charged Curry Jerry Smith, 18, of Sherwood and Jordan M. Parker, 18, of North Little Rock with arson in the case.

They're accused of pouring accelerants down both slides and lighting them ablaze with matches.

The fire detached one plastic slide away from the rocket slide and left it melted on the ground. A second slide was also heavily damaged and there was extensive paint damage to one side of the rocket slide.

Evidence found at the scene included two individual matches that did not burn, as well as a box of matches.
