LITTLE ROCK, AR - Faulkner County officials are asking for a judge to be appointed to handle Division II Circuit Judge Mike Maggio's cases.
Maggio was stripped of his docket by the Arkansas Supreme Court in March.
The Supreme Court has been finding special judges to handle the cases one at a time.
An investigation by the Judicial Discipline and Disability Board is looking into allegations that a campaign donation by state nursing home interests was in exchange for a reduced jury verdict in a negligence case.
The Faulkner County Quorum Court wants the Supreme Court to appoint a judge for the remainder of the year to handle all of the case load.
Troy Braswell takes the Division II judgeship next year.
Justice of the Peace Frank Shaw, a Conway attorney, brought up the proposed resolution at Tuesday night’s Quorum Court meeting, the proposal passed by a unanimous vote.
Shaw expects the resolution request to the Supreme Court to be prepared and voted on by the Quorum Court in mid July or at a time to be determined by the County Judge.
