UPDATE: Police Report Reveals Details in Rape Case of a 5-Year-Old Girl

BENTONVILLE, AR (KNWA) - A probable cause affidavit from Bentonville Police offers more details in the investigation of a man suspected of raping a 5-year-old girl at school.

According to the report, released Friday, Ali M. Matar, Jr. was alone in the library with the child while she played a computer game on Wednesday, May 14th. During an interview at Children's Advocacy Center, she said he "tickled her" inappropriately and hugged her.

When investigators spoke to Matar, 21, he initially told police he had touched her under her clothes accidentally but later said he was "curious" and put his hand inside her shorts, penetrating her.

Bond has been set for Matar at $75,000 and his next court date is scheduled for June 23.

BENTONVILLE, AR (KNWA) - A Bentonville School District employee has been accused of raping a child while working at an elementary school.

Bentonville Police say Ali M. Matar, Jr., 21, of Lowell, sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl while on the campus of R.E. Baker Elementary. They say he was working for the school district's Adventure Club Program.

Matar was arrested Wednesday after in investigation was launched when a report was made to the child abuse hotline report from the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division. 

Matar was taken to the Benton County Jail and is awaiting a bond hearing on one charge of felony rape. 

Police say the investigation has revealed no evidence of other victims but anyone with information should call the Bentonville Police Department at (479) 271-3170.
