Update: Woman Dies Day After Hit & Run near Bryant Store

Update (Aug. 22):
BRYANT, AR - The young woman critically injured Thursday afternoon in a hit and run in front of a local store has died.

Bryant Police have identified the woman as 20-year-old Heather Baker.

The man charged with hitting Baker is Marcus Dorsey, 39 and according to police Dorsey appeared in the Benton District Court on Friday for his bond hearing.

His charges have changed to the following:

Murder in the First Degree
Leaving the Scene of an Accident – 4 cts
Driving on Suspended Driver’s License

Dorsey is being held on one million dollars bond.

Original story (Aug. 21):
BRYANT, AR - A 20-year-old woman has been critically injured in a hit and run in a shopping center parking lot.

It happened early this afternoon just outside the Target store along I-30 just east of Alcoa Road.

Police say the victim was hit and then runover. She was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

A suspect is in custody. He's identified as Marcus Dorsey, 39. Police say he hit two cars on I-30 before exiting the interstate and turning into the shopping center.

Witnesses to the hit and run said after it happened he seemed to not know what was going on.

Police say officers were told by a Target employee that Dorsey drove on to the Greens Apartments next door to the shopping center. Troopers with the Arkansas State Police went to the complex and took the man into custody.

The victim, who police say is from the Benton area, suffered severe injuries. There's been no further word on her condition.

Dorsey has been charged with First Degree Battery and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury. Police say more charges may be pending.
