Winter Weather Expected Sunday in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- It may not feel like it outside now, but a significant ice event could occur in parts of Arkansas before the end of the weekend.

A winter storm warning was issued from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday for the northern part of the state including Clinton and Batesville.  The National Weather Service is anticipating anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snow with ice accumulations ranging from a tenth of a inch to a half inch.

A winter storm watch is in effect for portions of Central Arkansas including Little Rock and Pine Bluff.  The National Weather Service says freezing rain and ice accumulations are the biggest concerns.  Up to an inch of ice is possible east of Little Rock, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.

The conditions could create widespread travel issues and power outages.
