Despite winter weather warnings from the State Highway Department and State Police urging drivers to stay home, many are still taking the risk and getting stranded on the side of Arkansas highways.

State Police say more than two dozen highway crashes in Pulaski, Saline, Faulkner and Lonoke Counties were reported by 4:00pm, Sunday.

It's taking hours for tow trucks to get to the scene of a crash, leaving drivers stranded all along I-530 waiting for help throughout the storm.

"I just want to go home, really. Nobody wants to be stranded out here," said Dustie Smith, a driver who was hit when a semi slid into his SUV on I-530.

State police say they only expect the conditions to get worse overnight.
