Recap: Eastern Mich vs. Central Mich
Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Jalen Ross scored 13 points, leading three players in double figures, as the Eastern Michigan Eagles claimed a 58-52 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas in Mid-American Conference play at the Convocation Center.
Jamell Harris added 11 points and six rebounds, followed by Glenn Bryant with 10 points and five blocked shots for the Eagles (8-9, 1-2 MAC) as they snapped a four-game slide.
The Chippewas (8-8, 1-2), losers of two straight and three of the last four, were paced by Olivier Mbaigoto who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Kyle Randall and Finis Craddock with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
CMU made a total of just seven field goals in the first half and while the team was able to post a minor advantage in the opening frame, it was EMU that moved out to a 30-19 edge at the break.
The Chippewas tried to battle back in the second half, but the squad's mere 3- of-14 showing beyond the arc kept that from happening.
Eastern Michigan survived 18 turnovers by outscoring the visitors at the free- throw line, 20-8.
