Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Georgetown forward Greg Whittington has been declared academically ineligible, head coach John Thompson III announced on Wednesday.
Whittington had started each of the Hoyas' first 13 games this season before being held out of Saturday's 67-51 win at St. John's due to a violation of team rules. The 6-foot-8 sophomore ranks second on the team in both scoring (12.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg).
Due to federal regulations concerning student privacy matters, Georgetown did not elaborate further on Whittington's status.
