Pasadena, CA (Sports Network) - USC starting quarterback Matt Barkley will miss the Trojans' regular-season finale against top-ranked Notre Dame with a sprained shoulder, according to several reports.

Barkley suffered the injury when he was hit hard by UCLA's Anthony Barr late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 38-28 loss. He did not return to the field for the Trojans' final drive of the game.

The senior signal caller has thrown for 3,273 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, but has also tossed a career-high 15 interceptions.

Freshman Max Wittek will replace Barkley and make his first career start.

Wittek has completed 8-of-9 career passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.
