Nats sign P Young to minor league deal

Viera, FL (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals signed right-handed pitcher Chris Young to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Young, a nine-year veteran, spent the past two seasons with the New York Mets. Over 20 starts in 2012, the 6-foot-10 hurler posted a 4-9 record with a 4.15 ERA.

Over 159 career starts with Texas, San Diego and the Mets, Young has pitched to a 53-43 record with a 3.79 ERA and 755 strikeouts.
