Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians signed free-agent pitchers Scott Kazmir, Jerry Gil and Edward Paredes to Minor League contracts Tuesday.

Kazmir, 28, made 179 starts with the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels from 2004-2011, and tallied a record of 66-61 with a 4.17 ERA. The lefty made just one start for the Angels in 2011, however, and spent the 2012 season in the independent Atlantic League. Kazmir was an American League All-Star in 2006 and 2008 and in 2007, went 13-9 with a 3.48 ERA and led the American League with 239 strikeouts.

The 30-year-old Gil, a reliever, started his career as a position player, appearing in 30 Major League contests in 2004 and 2007. After being converted to a pitcher in 2008, he has a career Minor League record of 23-26, with a 5.36 ERA and 22 saves in 205 games. Gil played with the Toronto Blue Jays AAA affiliate Las Vegas during the 2012 season, compiling a 7-1 record and 4.92 ERA.

Paredes, who spent time with the Seattle Mariners from 2005-2011, most recently participated for Estrellas in the Dominican for a 24-game stint. He obtained a 3-0 record with a 1.93 ERA.
