New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees have apparently welcomed yet another former Boston Red Sox player.

The Daily News quoted a source on Tuesday which revealed that infielder Kevin Youkilis will be Bronx bound for $12 million next season. He is expected to fill in for Alex Rodriguez, who is not scheduled to return from hip surgery until well into the upcoming year.

Youkilis, 33, split 2012 between the Red Sox and White Sox, traded to Chicago on June 24 for Brent Lillibridge and Zach Stewart. All told, in 122 games, he hit a career-low .235 with 19 home runs, 15 doubles and 60 RBI.

In 1,033 major-league games in nine seasons, Youkilis is a .283 hitter who has totaled 148 home runs, 247 doubles and driven in 610 runs, while working 531 walks and scoring 641 runs.

When this deal is consummated, Youkilis will follow in the footsteps of outfielder Johnny Damon and Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs as Bostonians who continued their careers wearing the uniform of their most hated rival.
