Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Former NBA star Mookie Blaylock is reportedly on life support following a car accident in Georgia.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that Blaylock was one of two people critically injured in a head-on collision in Clayton County.
Jonesboro police Chief Franklin Allen told the paper that Blaylock was driving a Cadillac Escalade northbound on Tara Boulevard when for unknown reasons, he crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic.
Blaylock's vehicle struck another vehicle head-on, injuring two people in that car, including a female passenger who is said to have suffered internal bleeding.
All three were transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where Blaylock was on life support and unresponsive.
The 46-year-old Blaylock, a point guard, played for the Atlanta Hawks from 1992 to 1999. A two-time, first-team pick to the NBA's All-Defensive Team, Blaylock, also played for the Nets (1989-1992) and Warriors (1999-2002), averaging 13.5 points and 6.7 assists per game over the course of his career.
Address records show Blaylock, whose real name is Daron, lives in Zebulon in Pike County.
