Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks lost out on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, but on Friday they signed free agent center Samuel Dalembert.
Length and terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
This will be the fifth NBA team for Dalembert, who averaged 6.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 47 games for Milwaukee last season. He has played a total of 774 games (605 starts), also spending time with Philadelphia, Sacramento and Houston, and has career averages of 8.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
The Mavs tried to sway Howard to sign with them earlier this month, but instead he joined the Houston Rockets.
