Eden Prairie, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Vikings parted ways with veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield on Tuesday.

Winfield joined the Vikings in 2004 after playing five seasons for the Buffalo Bills. The 35-year-old was due to earn $7.25 million in 2013.

The Ohio State product recorded 101 tackles and three interceptions in 2012. For his career, Winfield has 972 tackles, 7 1/2 sacks and 27 interceptions in 191 games and went to three straight Pro Bowls from 2008-10.

In addition, Minnesota re-signed starting right tackle Phil Loadholt to a multi-year contract extension.

Loadholt has been durable throughout his four seasons with the Vikings, playing in 63 games over that span, and played a key role in Adrian Peterson's tremendous 2012 campaign in which the eventual NFL MVP rushed for 2,097 yards.
