Qualls Invited to Durant Camp

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Coming off a breakout sophomore campaign, Arkansas men’s basketball junior-to-be Michael Qualls will be one of 15 collegiate wings to attend the Kevin Durant Skills Academy from June 27-29 in Washington, D.C.

Started in 2011, the Kevin Durant Skills Academy will host the top 30 high school and top 15 collegiate wings from around the country for two and a half days of workouts. Qualls is the first Razorback to ever attend the event while teammate Bobby Portis is currently at the Nike Elite Youth Basketball (EYBL) Big Man Skills Academy in Union, N.J.

Known for his dunking ability that landed him on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays eight times during the season, Qualls quietly finished his sophomore campaign ranked in the top three on the 22-win team in scoring (11.6), rebounds (4.5), assists (1.9) and three-pointers (42). Qualls made a major jump in 2013-14, increasing his point production by seven points per game while reaching double figures 24 times compared to just five times as a freshman.

Qualls’ #MrSCTop10 nickname and hashtag became official in Arkansas’ dramatic 87-85 win over Kentucky at Bud Walton Arena on ESPN Super Tuesday this season. Qualls provided one of the most memorable highlights of the 2013-14 collegiate basketball season when he crashed the glass for a put-back dunk with 0.2 seconds left in overtime. It was the first of two game-winning shots by Qualls in SEC play, as he also drilled a three-pointer from the left baseline with 2.6 left on the road at Vanderbilt for a 77-75 victory.
