Michael Dyer was dismissed from the Arkansas State Football team on Sunday.

In a statement, head coach Gus Malzahn cited that the LR Christian star has violated "team rules."

Today the Jonesboro Sun sheds some light on what "team rules" he may have broken.  The article is on a pay-site, but you can get a day pass for 99-cents.  I absolutely recommend it.

According to the article, Dyer was pulled over for speeding in White County on March 10th by an Arkansas State Police Trooper.

There were several passengers in the vehicle, and the trooper found a handgun and a controlled substance, but Dyer was only cited for speeding.

There is apparently dash cam video of the trooper corresponding with Dyer, saying "You’ve got a career ahead of you, but you’re being a total dumb ass right now.”

Also in the video, the trooper repeatedly talks about "calling coach".  If Gus Malzahn did know about the incident, it would certainly be grounds for Dyer's dismissal.

ASP is investigating how the traffic stop was handled, and will be releasing a statement shortly.
