3 Arkansas players taken in pro baseball draft

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Three Arkansas baseball players were selected on the second day of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Junior infielder Matt Reynolds went to the New York Mets with the 71st overall pick in the second round on Tuesday. The Oakland Athletics selected sophomore pitcher Nolan Sanburn with the 74th overall pick, and junior pitcher DJ Baxendale was taken in the 10th round by the Minnesota Twins.

Reynolds was the top offensive performer for the Razorbacks this season, hitting seven homers and 42 RBI.

Sanburn has pitched in 20 games and has a 4-1 record with a 2.58 ERA.

Baxendale has a 7-4 record with a 2.83 ERA. Baxendale has a career record of 17-8 with 10 saves.
