5 more Ark. players taken in the baseball draft

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Five Arkansas baseball players have been selected on the final day of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Shortstop Tim Carver was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 19th round; outfielder Sam Bates was selected in the 28th round by the Kansas City Royals and pitcher Randall Fant was picked in the 29th round by the Cleveland Indians.

Outfielder and pitcher Derrick Bleeker went in the 37th round to the Baltimore Orioles and outfielder Jacob Morris went in the 37th round to the Cleveland Indians.

Overall, eight Razorbacks players were chosen.

Matt Reynolds went in the second round the New York Mets; Nolan Sanburn was chosen by the Oakland Athletics in the second round and DJ Baxendale went to the Minnesota Twins in the 10th round.
