8 to be inducted into S. Arkansas hall of fame

All-Americans in football, baseball, men's tennis and volleyball will be inducted into the Southern Arkansas University Sports Hall of Fame on Friday.

MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) — All-Americans in football, baseball, men's tennis and volleyball will be inducted into the Southern Arkansas University Sports Hall of Fame on Friday.

The 2011 Sports Hall of Fame class includes basketball standout Frank Dolan from the 1950s; track and field standout George Eriquezzo from the 1960s and football standout Ed Choate from the 1970s.

Other athletes to be inducted are baseball All-American Arturo Cherena (1987-1988); football All-American Eddie Key (1998-2001); men's tennis All-American Paolo Pezzoli (1986-1989) and volleyball All-American Kristin Olson (1992-1994), who also competed in track and field.

Louis Blanchard is being honored for meritorious service. Blanchard is a long-time faculty athletic representative and former university faculty member.

The inductees also will be introduced at halftime Saturday during the Muleriders' homecoming football game with Arkansas Tech.
